Camden Market has not announced its 2026 festive dates yet, and the Kenwood light trail is gone for good. What ran last year, and when the dates are due.

Nothing about Camden’s Christmas 2026 has been announced yet. Camden Market, King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard all still have last year’s festive pages live, written in the present tense, and it is easy to read them as this year’s plan. They are not.

This page records what actually ran last winter, what has already changed for 2026, and roughly when each set of dates should land. We will replace the history with the real dates as they are published.

One thing has already changed: no light trail at Kenwood

Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath ran a Peter Pan themed winter light trail called Neverland from 21 November 2025 to 3 January 2026, and a Halloween trail before it. Neither is coming back.

English Heritage confirmed to the Camden New Journal, in a piece published on 1 May 2026, that “the Halloween and Neverland light trails will not be returning to Kenwood in 2026”. The trails were run by RG Live and Sony Music Group, sold around 77,000 tickets in their first year, were extended from one year to five on the strength of that, and then dropped off. The organisers terminated the contract early.

If you booked Kenwood as a December fixture, that is the gap in this winter’s calendar. Kenwood House and its grounds remain free to visit.

Camden Market: dates due in November

Camden Market’s newest festive page is headed Camden Market Christmas 2025 and dated Thursday 13 November 2025. Last season it ran like this:

  • Kicked off on 6 December with The Big Sing, a 100-person choir, doing a free afternoon of festive songs and mulled wine.
  • Five real Christmas trees, icicle and frosty lights across the market.
  • An Ice Palace Grotto in Waterside Halls, with Mother and Father Christmas from 6 December, face painting, arts and crafts. A 1.5 hour experience, £11.55 a ticket, including a £1 donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
  • Story corner and craft sessions for younger children.

The market itself is open daily all year. What changes at Christmas is the programme on top of it, and on last season’s timing the announcement lands in mid-November.

Be careful with anything you read about a Camden Market lights switch-on on 28 November with Jazzie B from Soul II Soul and the Mayor of Camden. That was a real event, but 28 November was a Thursday in 2024, not in 2025 or 2026, and the coverage of it is still circulating undated.

King’s Cross: last year’s page is still up

kingscross.co.uk/christmas is a 2025 page. It gives itself away in one line: Club Curling running “until Sunday 1 March 2026”. Everything on it is written as though it is happening now.

What it records about last winter, which is a reasonable guide to the shape of this one:

  • A 60-foot Norwegian spruce in Granary Square and a 50-foot tree in Coal Drops Yard, lit with pea lights.
  • The Gingerbread City in Unit 5, Coal Drops Yard, 29 November to 4 January, with build-your-own workshops.
  • Club Curling in Coal Drops Yard, six lanes, £12 peak and £9 off-peak, under 12s free with an adult, running daily from noon to 9pm.
  • A floating mulled wine bar, The Copper Quay, moored by Granary Square on Regent’s Canal.
  • Mince pie cruises from the London Canal Museum on the narrowboat Long Tom, through the Islington Tunnel, on selected December dates.

The King’s Cross what’s-on listing currently runs only to late October, so the festive programme has not been loaded yet.

There is no council switch-on

Camden Council’s website carries no Christmas lights switch-on page, and its newsroom has published nothing festive this year. The lights in Camden Town, at King’s Cross and in the smaller high streets are put up by the market operators, the estate and the local traders, each on their own timetable, which is why there is no single date to look up.

Getting there

Camden Town and Chalk Farm are the stations for the market, and Camden Town takes crowd-control measures on its busiest afternoons, so check before you travel. Our tube times and fares page covers the local services, and the roadworks page tracks what is dug up. If you are driving, read the parking page first: there is no free on-street parking anywhere in the borough during controlled hours.
