No Tube or Overground in Camden on Christmas Day, and no Lioness or Suffragette line on 26 December. TfL's 2026 closures, and when Euston's are due.
Nothing runs on the Tube or London Overground in Camden on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026, and services finish early on Christmas Eve. On Saturday 26 December there is no Lioness line through South Hampstead and Kilburn High Road and no Suffragette line from Gospel Oak. That is from TfL’s planned track closures list, which already covers Christmas and was correct on 25 September 2026. The main line stations are a different story: National Rail says Christmas 2026 engineering runs from 24 December to 4 January, but the work at Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras has not been published yet.
The quick answer
- Christmas Day: no Tube, Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR or National Rail trains at all.
- Saturday 26 December: no Lioness line or Suffragette line. TfL lists no Northern, Jubilee, Victoria or Piccadilly line closures that day.
- Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve: trains finish early. Last-train times are due from National Rail in late November or early December.
Tube and Overground, day by day
These dates are from TfL’s planned track closures list, correct at publication on Friday 25 September 2026. Only lines that serve Camden stations are shown.
| Date | What TfL lists |
|---|---|
| Tue 8 to Thu 10 Dec | Mildmay line: Stratford to Camden Road, westbound only, after 23:45 |
| Wed 9 to Thu 10 Dec | Mildmay line: Willesden Junction to Stratford, eastbound only, after 23:00 |
| Sun 13 Dec | Mildmay line: Camden Road to Stratford, after 22:15 |
| Mon 14 to Thu 17 Dec | Mildmay line: Camden Road to Willesden Junction, westbound only, after 23:45 |
| Thu 24 Dec | Underground, Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR and trams finish earlier than normal |
| Fri 25 Dec | No service on the Underground, Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR or trams |
| Sat 26 Dec | No Lioness line (Euston, South Hampstead, Kilburn High Road); no Suffragette line (Gospel Oak); no Elizabeth line; Mildmay line closed only west of Willesden Junction |
| Sat 9 to Sun 10 Jan | Mildmay line: Camden Road to Stratford |
| Sat 16 to Sun 17 Jan | Mildmay line: Camden Road to Stratford |
| Sun 17 Jan | Suffragette line: Gospel Oak to Barking, until 12:30 |
The Mildmay line is the Overground route through West Hampstead, Finchley Road and Frognal, Hampstead Heath, Gospel Oak, Kentish Town West and Camden Road. The Boxing Day closure on it is west of Willesden Junction, so the Camden stretch is not listed as closed that day.
TfL adds closures to this list through the autumn, so check it again in December. Our Camden Tube times and fares page has the normal first and last trains.
What TfL did last Christmas
TfL’s press release of 2 December 2025 set out the pattern it usually follows:
- Christmas Eve: services ran but finished early.
- Christmas Day: no service on most public transport, including buses. Santander Cycles, taxis and Dial-a-Ride ran.
- Boxing Day: a Sunday service on the Underground, buses and trams, with some lines closed.
- New Year’s Eve: services ran all night, but some central London stations were closed at short notice to stop overcrowding, and some central London buses were diverted from about midday.
- The Congestion Charge was suspended from 25 December to 1 January. The ULEZ applied as normal except on Christmas Day.
TfL has not yet published its 2026 version. On last year’s timing, expect it in early December.
Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras
National Rail’s Christmas page says the 2026/27 engineering period runs from Thursday 24 December 2026 to Monday 4 January 2027. It says:
- there will be no National Rail services on Christmas Day
- most operators will have no service on Boxing Day, with a very limited service from a few
- the Boxing Day bank holiday is on Monday 28 December
- trains will finish earlier on Christmas Eve and on some routes on New Year’s Eve
- last-train details follow in late November or early December
It names no work at Euston, King’s Cross or St Pancras yet.
Last Christmas the big one was Euston. Network Rail warned on 17 December 2025 that a £26m rebuild of Hanslope junction near Milton Keynes would affect journeys to and from Euston from Christmas Eve until the morning of 5 January, with no trains between Milton Keynes and Rugby or Northampton. The year before, it told passengers to travel either side of the holiday because other London termini were closed and Euston would be packed. Network Rail announced that one on 7 November 2024, which gives a rough idea of when the 2026 plans will land.
Driving and parking over Christmas
Camden’s bank holiday parking rules apply on 25 December, 28 December and 1 January, the three bank holidays this year. On those days the council does not enforce:
- resident and shared-use bays
- pay-to-park bays
- single yellow lines, unless kerb marks show a loading ban
Double yellow lines, loading bans, disabled bays, car club bays, electric vehicle charging bays, suspended bays and bus stops are still enforced. So are bus lanes, box junctions and banned turns, around the clock. Saturday 26 December is not a bank holiday this year, so normal Saturday rules apply that day. More on permits and pay-by-phone is on our parking in Camden page, and street works are on our Camden roadworks page.
Still to be confirmed
- Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve last trains, due late November or early December.
- Network Rail’s Christmas works at Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras, likely November.
- TfL’s 2026 Christmas travel release and Congestion Charge dates, likely early December.
- Camden’s 2026 bank holiday parking enforcement notice.
